Sometimes we get to hear about them and make notes:

Life member Mike Hallahan has been admitted to the Ballarat Football league ‘Hall of Fame’

Bill McLennan has been given Life membership of Victorian Athletics in recognition of his 35 years service as an Athletics Official.

Jim Bambridge was a member of the Ballarat Fly Fishing Club team that came in 3rd. in the Brub Shield – a State competition for accurate casting.

Bob Whitcher was a member of the Victoria Indoor Bowls team that defeated Lewarmonth to win the Div. 4 Premiership.

Craig Coltman was a member of the four man Ballarat Fly Fishers Club team which won it’s sixth successive Victorian Fly Fishing Championship recently.  The team has been in the top three for 19 years and won the Championship no less than 12 times.

Olympic Basketballer Ray Borner  was member of the over 50’s Basketball side that won the NSW Basketball Team of the Year.  Ray and three of the members of the team are in Ireland playing another tournament.

BMX news saw Member Wayne Jolly take 1st. place in the over 40’s race in April at Sheparton. His son Josh won the 8 -10 Crusiers event and made 3rd. in the 8yo boysIn the National Titles at Sheparton Wayne and his son Josh did well again with Wayne taking Brnze in the over 40 Retro Class and Josh was 11th. in the 8yo boys. Wayne also finished 9th. in the over 40 Cruisers Class.

Andrew Faull played for the Ballarat & Clarendon College Old Boys cricket side when they defeated the current College team helped by Andrew’s two wickets.

Craig Schepis, Greg McIntosh, Wayne Matthews, Graeme Cheeseman, John Burt all competed in the Port Macquarie Iron Man recently.  Club guest and friend Brett O’Neill also competed with them. 

Club Member Mark Dobbyn is celebrating the winner of the Women’s Stawell Gift  –  being no other than he and his wife Sue’s very fit daughter.  Catch the details in the website news section.

Winner of the Mick O’Neill Award, Josh Brien did really well in the Nationals in Sydney – Story also in the news section.

Member Phil Roberts received  a Ballarat Heritage Award in recognition of his writing of two books about the 150 celebrations of Ballarat & Clarendon College.
